Gerry O’Dell is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and actively participates in the Sterilization Standards Committee activities. She is currently Co-Chair of the AAMI Industrial Moist Heat Sterilization Working Group and a member of the U.S. Sub-TAGs for moist heat (ISO/TC 198/WG 3), ethylene oxide sterilization (ISO/TC 198/WG 1), and microbiological methods (ISO/TC 198/WG 8). She is a past Co-Chair of the AAMI Industrial Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Working Group. She is also a member of the Sterilization Residuals, Radiation Sterilization, Sterility Assurance Level (SAL), Microbiological Methods, and several Working Groups related to the reprocessing of reusable medical devices. Gerry also was a member of the panel that developed the questions for the AAMI Credentials Institute (ACI) Industrial Sterilization Specialist certification for EO, moist heat, and radiation.
Gerry is a Certified Industrial Sterilization Specialist for EO, moist heat, and radiation (CISS-EO, CISS-MH, and CISS-RAD) and a Registered Microbiologist with the National Registry of Microbiologists in the area of Consumer Products & Quality Assurance. She is also a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM), and PDA.
